The Origins

S alon No. 518 was simply an idea for many years. Started by 2 friends who worked together for the better part of 2 decades in many places throughout Essex County, most recently in Millburn for the last 8-9 years. Creating a reputation as great stylists but also creating lasting personal relationships with clients in the area.

T hrough out the years they kept notes on how and what worked and what didn’t work. Always keeping an eye our for the right location, they looked through almost a dozen locations, even in the same building 2 years back.

A fter passing this open location hundreds of times, something prompted them to call and with a little luck, a lot of hard work and even more convincing they opened the salon.

A mply named for the salon address, five-eighteen Millburn Avenue, Short Hills, the location offers everything clients could want; Ample parking, a “downtown feel” next to local shops and restaurants and easy access to the main roads, making it easy to get to. Understanding the location is such a big part of the salon’s personality, the decision for the name was simple.

K eeping the salon intimate was a key ingredient in  the salons personality, wanting to keep the salon experience personable and unique. Over the years through client feedback and comments along with social trends a few things became clear. The world is becoming more personalized and casual and the salon experience is no exception. This was the message from clients and what went into the design and style of the salon.
